Strong Children - Powerful Families
BCDI-Atlanta's Powerful Families Program improves connections for low-income families. This two-generation family engagement program focuses on creating opportunities for and addressing the needs of both children and their families together, to create improved family economic stability. Parents set 3 goals in Powerful Families - a personal/family goal, an educational goal, and a career goal, which our Family Engagement Coaches, Advisory Council and community partners support them in achieving.
Powerful Families provides learning materials, professional development and coaching to families and early care and education staff at all levels. Families are given culturally responsive books and educational materials to improve their children’s school readiness and literacy skills. Early education staff receive toolkits and training materials to enhance their relationships with the children and families they serve. In 2021, BCDI-Atlanta provided over 600 culturally responsive children’s books, 65 early literacy toolkits and 38 school transition kits.
With support from partners and donors like you, BCDI-Atlanta looks forward to extending Powerful Families beyond the City of Atlanta and Fulton County.
